Today we celebrate remembrance day. It happens every year at 11 am on the 11th of November (11th month) and this year it is 2011!
We look back at people who died in WW1, but also it is a time to think about people who are involved in recent wars too.
We wear a poppy on this day as a reminder because poppies spread across the battlefields in World War 1, and the red is a significant colour to the blood shed in the war.
I have made some cupcakes to celebrate the day. These are lemon and poppy seed cupcakes, a new recipe I have never tried before, but after a very successful taste test, I will DEFINITELY be making them again!
This shows the middle of the cupcake with all the yummy lemon zest and poppy seeds. The black (dark brown) blob is a Galaxy chocolate minstrel! Even more yum! I made the poppys from red sugarpaste and added some green leaves too.
